My name is Sidratul Muntaha Malik. I am an 18 year old stuck in an 18 year old body. Tragic, I know.
My hobbies include writing, reading, and all of that boring stuff. Did I mention spoken word? That one isn't too boring. There's this feeling of embarrassment you feel on stage right when you get on, like you just fell face first in front of the entire crowd. Except you start to perform and suddenly you can't see faces. The thought "I'm almost done" fills your space. Then it's silence for 0.1 seconds and a round of applause, and you walk off stage without falling face first in front of the crowd. Yet.
I am a striving Muslimah. I try my best to learn the Quran and Sunnah and take you on the journey of knowledge as well. Beware: I am in no way a scholar or Aalima, and neither am I accredited to provide Fatwas. I attend classes, lectures, events, and seminars, but I do not have any association to (for instance) the Canadian Council of Muslim Theologians or Moon Sighting Committees. This is my take on my journey, and if I mention Islam it is solely to relate to myself first and foremost.
This blog is dedicated to one year of my life. The year of my life which I finally get to dictate. And let me tell you, it's nerve-wracking and discipline breaking. My fill year, which I strive to fill with moments, things, and people which are important to me, is a step in my life I have taken with my eyes wide open. So I can at least assure you I have not gone crazy. Yet.
